A new pavilion for Vietnam’s Van Don Airport recalls the textures of mid-century Modernism and the rocky mountains of nearby Ha Long Bay.
Located directly on the departures concourse, one of the main challenges for the pavilion lay in balancing a sense of enclosure with the need for product visibility. Three solid walls which house the back-of-house and display walls form the backbone of the pavilion, while pigmented concrete screen blocks form a visually transparent facade. A feature display for beauty products is installed at the far end, illuminated from above by a triangular skylight.
